Fic: Shielding

By PaBurke
Summary: Twisted Yarns lj prompt. The Winchester boys as SHEILD Agents.  More Fusion than crossover.
Disclaimer: Not Mine
Universes: Season One-ish of Supernatural. General knowledge of the Marvel universe.

The figure hunched over the body, his black see-through wings outstretched protectively.

Don’t call them see-through, Dean, Sammy would say.

Dean would smirk at his brother and partner and say Dude, it’s not like they’re insubstantial and that’s what you were callin’ them until we saw them used.

And Sam would roll his eyes at Dean.

Turns out that the wings could deliver a punch equal to a rhino charge. And the mutant could fly with them. Dean thought that was handy. Sammy thought that Professor Charles Xavier of the infamous X-Men had hired this man to teach aerial combat to Archangel (the mutant had a real name but it wasn’t as if Dean cared; he had Sammy to remember shit like that).

All that meant was that the rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents thought that Dean was bat-shit crazy for getting this close to the mutant without a tranq gun. (Well, they thought that Dean was bat-shit for a lot of reasons, but Fury liked him and that was all that mattered.) The general was actually easier to predict and please than John Winchester and Dean had a lifetime of keeping on that Marine’s good side.

Dean crouched down across from the mutant. The winged man rocked the body, ignoring him.

“Good job,” Dean told him.

The mutant stared. And glared. Dean noticed, not the glare, but the solitary tear that was slowly crawling down the man’s cheek. The man wiped the tear away, careful that it not touch the corpse in his arms. “He was killing.”

“I know that,” Dean said.

“Someone had to stop him.”

“Yep. Just surprised that you did it before me and Sammy got here. Rarely does anyone beat out the first responders to a mutant incident like you did.”

“He was my brother.”

“I know.” His twin to be specific. Dean had read the report on this mutant when Sam wasn’t looking. His father named him Castiel because he was born on a Thursday, the same day that his mother had died. (Natural, quiet… probably. Sammy thought it might have been the older twin’s first kill. Any way you looked at it, it wasn’t the violent, painful death Mary Winchester had suffered at the hands of the mutant firestarter.) Since the babies had been borne at home and not a hospital, no one knew if the wings had been there from day one.

“What will you do with me?”

“I’ll report that I got here after you left. But you have to leave Uriel here. Gotta have something to show the boss.”

Castiel nodded once, gently laid the broken and bloody body down and flew away.

Dean watched him go and knew that Sammy –on some nearby rooftop, looking through a scope- did the same.

XDD Love the idea! Figures the Fury would like Dean, right? Dean is IRRESISTIBLE. (To both men and women, whether it be romantic or friendly. You could say that that's his mutant ability, yes? ;D )

actually, in this universe, Dean and Sam are powerless. I have a different story where they are mutants.

o_o Really?! Oh well! Sam and Dean can still kick ass without one. XD

Different story?! WHICH ONE?! Have I read it yet?! *stalks through lj*
